Pentair Swimmey 33M 230v Centrifugal Swimming Pool Pump

Description

The Pentair Swimmey 33M 230v (code 014-040) is a self-priming swimming pool pump with a built-in pre-filter, designed for filtering and circulating chlorine-treated pool water. It delivers up to 550 litres per minute (about 33 m³/h) from a 1.5 kW (2 HP) motor, runs on standard 230v single-phase mains and has DN 50 suction and delivery connections. It is the largest pump in the Swimmey range, for the biggest private pools and installations that need both high flow and high pressure.

Pentair’s data shows 18.5 m of head at 100 l/min, 15.5 m at 200 l/min, 12 m at 300 l/min and 8 m at 400 l/min. Pentair asks for suction and delivery pipework of at least 75 mm (3 inch) on this model, so check your pipe size before choosing it. The Swimmey 33T 415v is the same pump for a three-phase supply. The Swimmey 28M is the next size down (470 l/min).

Every Swimmey is a close-coupled, self-priming centrifugal pump with an integral pre-filter. The pump body and pre-filter are ABS, the impeller and diffuser are glass-fibre reinforced Lexan to resist abrasion from sand, and the large polyethylene strainer basket sits under a clear Lexan cover that you unscrew by hand to empty it. A graphite and ceramic mechanical seal and a stainless steel shaft with an insulating element complete the wet end. The 2850 rpm motor is IPX5 rated with class F insulation and self-lubricating ball bearings, and is suitable for continuous duty. Suction and delivery connections are DN 50.

It runs on a standard 230v single-phase supply and draws 8.5 A. The motor has a permanently connected run capacitor and a thermal cut-out built into the winding, so it protects itself if it overheats. Pentair requires an earthed supply protected by a 30 mA residual current device.

Pentair rates the Swimmey for chlorine-treated pool water up to 40°C, a maximum operating pressure of 2.5 bar and a maximum ambient temperature of 45°C. It is a surface pump, not a submersible: install it in a dry, ventilated place, protected from frost, with isolating valves on both sides and a non-return valve after the pump. Never run it dry, and do not use it for flammable or hazardous liquids. If your pool uses salt or another treatment, talk to us before ordering.
