Description
The Pentair Biox 300/10 Automatic 230v (code 555-054) is a stainless steel submersible sewage pump that delivers up to 350 litres per minute and a maximum head of 11 metres. It runs on a 230v single-phase supply, drawing 1.3 kW (5.8 A) with a 0.9 kW motor output, and discharges through a 2-inch male BSP outlet. A float switch is fitted, set at the factory to start the pump at about 400 mm of water and stop it at about 300 mm.
The 300/10 is the smaller of the two Biox pumps and suits a single house, annexe or outbuilding where inflow is modest and the discharge point is not far above the sump. If you need more flow or the pipe run is long and high, the Biox 400/12 fits the same sump and delivers up to 450 l/min and 12 m.
The pump body, motor shaft and impeller are all stainless steel, with a die-cast stainless vortex impeller that stays clear of the main flow so soft solids up to 40 mm pass through without clogging the blades. A mechanical seal runs in an oil chamber for continuous lubrication, and a V-ring guards it against sand. The motor is IP68 rated with class F insulation and built-in thermal overload protection, which stops the pump if it overheats and restarts it automatically once it has cooled.

Pentair states the Biox must not be used for sea water or for flammable, corrosive, explosive or dangerous liquids, or in swimming pools, and the pumped liquid should not exceed 40°C. It is a vortex pump, not a grinder, so it will not cut up wipes, sanitary products or rag. Never let it run dry, and connect it to a supply protected by a 30 mA RCD. The pump is supplied without a hose tail, so order a fitting to suit the 2-inch outlet.
