GMP High Head Self Priming Pumps
The GMP High Head Self Priming range is built for applications where water needs to be lifted to a significant height rather than simply moved along, with head capacities running from 25m up to 33m across the five models. Each pump uses an open impeller design that avoids suction loss, paired with a non-return valve on the inlet that keeps the pump primed between cycles, so re-priming after a stop-start is quicker and less hands-on.
Construction is cast iron with a stainless steel shaft and carbon mechanical seal, giving durability without the weight or cost of a fully stainless build. All models handle a maximum suction depth of 6 metres and liquid temperatures up to 70°C, and the two heaviest units in the range come pre-assembled on a skid plate to simplify installation and transport.
Facilities managers and contractors specify this range for clean or slightly contaminated water applications where standard flow rate isn’t the priority and vertical lift is. Typical uses include irrigation from a lower source, dewatering where water must be pushed up and out of an excavation, and general water transfer where the discharge point sits well above the suction point.
Choosing the right GMP High Head model
The two smallest models, EAEN and EB53, share identical performance (315 l/min at 25m head) and differ only in voltage: EAEN runs on 230v single phase, EB53 on 400v three phase. The mid-range EAEL and EADT models step up to 370 l/min at 33m head, again split by voltage rather than performance. The EAT8 sits at the top of the range with the highest flow of the five at 400 l/min, still at 33m head, and is 400v only.
Solids handling increases slightly as you move up the range too, from 5mm on the smallest models to 8mm on the EAT8. If your water source carries any debris, this is worth checking against your application before ordering. Since maximum suction depth and liquid temperature are identical across all five models, your choice really comes down to required head and flow, then voltage.

Where to Use GMP High Head Self Priming Pumps
This range is suited to installations where the pump sits above the water source and needs genuine lift, rather than sitting submerged. Common applications include irrigation from boreholes, tanks, or lower-lying water sources, dewatering excavations or basements where water needs pushing up to street level, and general industrial water transfer between tanks or process stages at different heights.
Because these are self-priming units, they’re well suited to installations with a long or awkward suction line, or where the suction side may occasionally run dry between cycles. These pumps are designed for clean or slightly contaminated water only, not for water carrying significant debris or abrasives. What’s the difference between the EAEN and EB53 models?
Performance is identical (315 l/min at 25m head). The EAEN runs on 230v single phase, while the EB53 runs on 400v three phase, so the choice comes down to what power supply is available at your site.
Can these pumps handle dirty or debris-laden water?
They’re rated for clean or slightly contaminated water only, with solids handling from 5mm to 8mm depending on the model, and are explicitly not suitable for abrasive liquids. Heavier dirty water or trash duty needs a different range built for that purpose.
Do I need to prime these pumps manually?
No. The open impeller design and inlet non-return valve mean the pump evacuates air from the suction line itself, and the non-return valve keeps it primed between cycles so restarting is quicker. Do the larger models come with a mounting base?
Yes. Models rated 4kW and above are supplied pre-assembled on a skid plate. Within this range that applies to the EAT8 at the top end; smaller models are supplied without one.
