Description
The Vacusystem VS 170-B400 (code 214-1050) is the higher-output version of the Vacusystem single-pump sewage package station. Its stainless steel Pentair Biox 400/12 automatic pump delivers up to 450 litres per minute and a maximum head of 12 metres from a 230v single-phase supply, drawing 1.6 kW. Like the B300, it collects sewage and waste water in a 170-litre moulded vessel, passes soft solids up to 40 mm and discharges through a 2″ BSP female outlet.
Choose the B400 when the rising main is long, the drain is well above the station, or the station serves a busier washroom. Extra lift and pipe length both cut the flow that reaches the drain, and the larger pump keeps more in reserve. For short, low runs, the VS 170-B300 uses the same vessel and fittings with the smaller Biox 300/10 (350 l/min, 11 m).
Both stations share the same one-piece moulded thermoplastic vessel of 170 litres. The pump stands free on the base of the vessel and connects to the outlet pipework through a quick release coupling and a non-return valve, which stops pumped sewage draining back into the tank. Waste enters through three 4″ (100 mm) plastic knockout inlets that can be opened or drilled to suit, and the discharge is a 2″ BSP female thread. The vessel can stand free in a yard or plant room or be buried in the ground under an inspection cover. No control panel is included or needed for basic operation.
The Biox 400/12 is built from stainless steel throughout the body, shaft and vortex impeller. The impeller sits recessed above the flow, so soft solids pass through the volute rather than across the blades, and a mechanical seal running in an oil chamber protects the motor. The fitted float switch runs the pump automatically, the motor is rated IP68 with thermal overload protection, and Pentair recommends a supply protected by a 30 mA RCD.
Features
- Complete package: 170-litre vessel, pump, non-return valve and quick release coupling
- Pentair Biox 400/12 stainless steel vortex sewage pump
- Up to 450 l/min and 12 m head
- 230v single phase, 1.6 kW input
- Automatic float switch operation, no control panel needed
- Passes soft solids up to 40 mm
- Three 4″ (100 mm) knockout inlets, drillable to suit
- 2″ BSP female outlet
Applications
- WC and shower rooms with a long or uphill run to the sewer
- Annexes and outbuildings set well back from the main drain
- Small commercial or site welfare washrooms
- Replacing a gravity connection that has lost its fall
Suitable for domestic sewage and waste water up to 40°C. Keep wipes, sanitary products, rag, debris and heavy fat and grease out of the system. This is a compact single-pump station with no alarm panel, so it is not the right choice for a whole house or several properties; we recommend fitting a separate high-level alarm wherever an overflow could go unnoticed. For 110 mm soil pipe, use the 110 mm to 100 mm adapter.

Dimension drawing: the vessel measures about 750 mm long, 550 mm wide and 750 mm high to the top of the lid, as shown in the drawing above.
