Pentair Flotec Compac 150 & 200 Submersible (Sump) Pumps
Pentair Flotec Compac submersible sump pumps are small clean water pumps with the float switch built into the pump body, so they fit narrow sump pits and corners where a pump with a swinging float would catch on the walls. Each one stands 280 mm tall on a 170 x 200 mm footprint, which suits flooded cellars and basements, utility room and lift pit sumps, and drawing water from wells, basins or cisterns.
What sets the Compac apart is how low it can pump. A lever on the front selects the mode. In automatic (AUT) the integrated float starts the pump when the water reaches about 140 mm and stops it at about 30 mm, so it can look after a sump unattended. In manual (MAN) the float is bypassed and the pump runs until you switch it off, taking the water down to about 3 mm. That makes one pump useful both for a permanent sump and for clearing the last of a flood from a floor.
Compac 150 or Compac 200?
Both models share the same polypropylene body, Noryl impeller and stainless steel motor shaft, a 1¼” male outlet with a check valve, an adjustable hose connector for ¾”, 1″ and 1¼” hose, and 10 metres of power cable. The difference is the motor. The Compac 150 has a 300 W power input and moves up to 8,500 litres an hour (about 140 l/min) against a maximum head of 7 metres. The Compac 200 has a 650 W power input for up to 11,500 litres an hour (about 190 l/min) and 10 metres of head.
Choose the Compac 150 for a typical domestic sump or cellar where the water only has to rise a few metres to a drain. Step up to the Compac 200 when water comes in quickly, the hose run is long or the discharge point sits higher, because its extra head means it keeps more of its flow at the outlet end. The Compac 150 also comes in a 110v version for building sites that run tools from a transformer; the Compac 200 is supplied in 230v only.
| Model | Code | Voltage | Max Flow (l/min) | Max Head (m) | Power Input (W) | Outlet |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compac 150 230v | 020-090 | 230v | 140 | 7 | 300 | 1¼” |
| Compac 150 110v | 020-092 | 110v | 140 | 7 | 300 | 1¼” |
| Compac 200 (DPC200) 230v | 020-094 | 230v | 190 | 10 | 650 | 1¼” |
Flow and head are Pentair’s published maximums, measured without the check valve fitted, so expect slightly less in use. Click through to any model for its dimensions, performance curve and full specification.

Where to Use a Flotec Compac Sump Pump
The Compac is at its best in tight domestic and light commercial spaces: a small sump pit in a cellar or basement, a utility room or boiler room sump, a lift pit, or a garage or outbuilding that takes in groundwater. Because the float is inside the body, the pit only needs room for the pump itself and a way to lift it out by the handle. Set it to automatic and it cycles on its own as the water rises. Our basement sump pump guide covers pit layout and discharge routes in more detail.
Manual mode turns the same pump into a low level clearing pump. After a burst pipe or flood, a standard sump pump stops with a few centimetres of water still on the floor; the Compac in manual mode keeps going down to about 3 mm. Stay with it while it runs. If you mainly need to clear standing water from floors and slabs, our puddle pump guide compares the other low level options.
Know where the range stops. The Compac is a clean water pump for liquid carrying soft particles no larger than 5 mm. Sand, grit and silt wear the impeller, the maximum liquid temperature is 40°C, and it is not built for sewage, sea water or anything flammable or corrosive. For dirtier water, look at the Pentair Flotec VIP and VIPVORT drainage pumps, or browse all small sump pumps.
Frequently Asked Questions
How low will a Flotec Compac pump the water?
In manual mode it takes the level down to about 3 mm; in automatic mode it stops at about 30 mm, when the integrated float drops. To start pumping it needs at least 15 mm of water.
Can I leave the Compac running unattended?
Only in automatic mode. In manual mode the float is disabled and the pump keeps running whatever the water level, and Pentair states the pump must never run without liquid. The pump has a built-in thermal protection switch that stops it if the motor overloads and restarts it once it has cooled, but that is not a substitute for keeping it under water.
What size sump pit does it need?
The pump measures 280 mm high on a 170 x 200 mm footprint, so a compact pit will take it. Size the pit for the inflow as well: Pentair recommends no more than 30 starts an hour, so if a small pit fills fast, a larger chamber or the higher flow Compac 200 will reduce how often the pump cycles.
What hose can I connect?
The outlet is a 1¼” male thread. The supplied stepped connector screws on and is cut down to suit ¾” (19 mm), 1″ (25 mm) or 1¼” (32 mm) hose, and a check valve stops water in the hose draining back into the pit. Use the largest hose the job allows: smaller hose and longer runs both cut flow, as our guide to pump head and flow rate explains.
Should I choose the 110v or 230v Compac 150?
Choose 110v if you are working on a building site that runs tools through a 110v transformer; choose 230v for permanent use on household mains. Pentair specifies that a 230v Compac should be connected through a residual current device rated at 30 mA or less, and outdoor connections must be protected from splashes.
