Dab Genix Self Contained Toilet Waste Pumping Units

The DAB GENIX range offers self-contained toilet waste pumping units designed for domestic bathroom installations where gravity drainage to the main sewer is not possible. Each unit houses a pump and macerating mechanism in a single compact tank that sits directly behind the WC pan, removing the need for conventional 100mm soil pipe runs and allowing a toilet — and additional sanitary appliances — to be installed almost anywhere in a residential property. All GENIX models operate automatically, activating when waste enters the unit and stopping once the tank is clear.

The range divides into two series and two performance tiers. The standard GENIX series handles everyday residential use at a competitive price point, while the Comfort series adds enhanced acoustic insulation for installations in noise-sensitive locations such as bedrooms, studies, or open-plan living areas. Within each series, the 110 models accept one additional appliance connection alongside the WC, while the 130 models accept three additional connections, making them the right choice for a complete en-suite or standalone bathroom installation.

Choosing the Right GENIX Model

The two key decisions are connection count and noise tolerance. If you are installing a WC with a single wash basin — a common requirement for a cloakroom or utility room — the 110 models provide everything you need. If the installation includes a full bathroom with WC, shower, wash basin, and bidet, the 130 models accommodate all four appliances from a single unit.

The Comfort upgrade is worth considering for any installation adjacent to a bedroom or living space. The additional sound insulation in the Comfort models reduces operational noise noticeably compared to the standard series, which is particularly relevant given that macerating units activate automatically at any time of day or night when the WC is flushed.

Where the DAB GENIX Is Used

The GENIX range is designed for situations where a new WC or bathroom needs to be added to a property but a conventional gravity drain run to the soil stack is not practical. Common residential applications include basement conversions, loft rooms, garage outbuildings, and ground floor extensions where the nearest soil stack connection would require significant structural or groundwork to reach. Rather than breaking up floors or running long sections of large-bore pipework, a GENIX unit allows waste to be discharged through a small-diameter pipe — typically 32mm or 40mm — which can be routed through walls, across floor voids, or along ceiling joists to reach the nearest soil connection.

The unit macerates solid waste and pumps the resulting slurry upward and away from the WC, meaning it can also serve installations where the toilet sits below the level of the main drainage run — a basement WC being the most common example. The 130 models, which accept connections from a shower, wash basin, and bidet in addition to the WC, are well suited to a complete basement bathroom where running four separate drain lines to the soil stack would otherwise be prohibitively disruptive. For larger-scale or commercial applications requiring a packaged pumping station, the JS Box domestic pumping station range offers a purpose-built alternative.

Installation requires a nearby 230V electrical supply with an appropriate switched fused spur, and the discharge pipework must be correctly sized and routed per the manufacturer’s guidelines to avoid back-pressure that could affect pump performance. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the GENIX 110 and GENIX 130?

The difference is the number of additional appliance connections. The 110 models accept one additional inlet alongside the WC — typically a wash basin. The 130 models accept three additional inlets, allowing you to connect a shower, wash basin, and bidet as well as the WC. For a simple cloakroom or utility WC with a single basin, the 110 is sufficient. If you are fitting a complete bathroom, the 130 is the correct choice.

What is the difference between the standard GENIX and the Comfort versions?

The Comfort models include enhanced sound insulation built into the unit housing, reducing operational noise when the pump activates — typically for 20 to 30 seconds after each flush. The standard models are appropriate for most installations, but the Comfort upgrade is worthwhile if the unit will be installed adjacent to a bedroom, home office, or living room where noise at night could be a problem.

Can the GENIX handle waste from a shower or bath?

Yes, on the 130 and Comfort 130 models, which include three additional inlets for grey water appliances. These can be connected to a shower, wash basin, and bidet. The unit handles both black water from the WC and grey water from the additional appliances through a single discharge point. The 110 models accept only one additional grey water inlet alongside the WC connection.

Does the GENIX need to be installed directly behind the toilet?

The standard GENIX unit is designed to sit directly behind the WC pan, which allows the toilet’s horizontal trap to connect to the GENIX inlet. This is the most common configuration. The GENIX range also includes wall-mounted variants (GENIX WL) and under-sink variants (GENIX VT) for installations where a behind-toilet position is not practical — please contact us if you require one of these configurations, as they are available to order.

What size discharge pipe does the GENIX use?

The GENIX discharges through small-bore pipework, typically 32mm or 40mm in diameter, which can be concealed within standard partition walls or floor voids without the need for large-diameter soil pipe runs. The exact pipe size and maximum run length requirements are detailed in the installation guide supplied with each unit — always follow the manufacturer’s guidance to ensure reliable performance.

Is a GENIX unit suitable for commercial use?

The GENIX range is designed for domestic residential use. For commercial applications — staff welfare facilities, commercial kitchens, or multi-unit installations — a different solution is likely required. Our sewage and wastewater pump range includes commercial-grade submersible pumps and packaged pumping stations suited to higher duty cycles. Our guide to choosing the right sewage pump covers the key differences between domestic and commercial specifications.
